Slow Dancing With The Father

2017-07-08 10.16.49

Summer break I always find myself busier than usual with a through summer cleaning of my home, painting, pressure washing, yard work, spending time with family, church activities, etc.. Trying to find the time for everyone and everything; in the past I found myself feeling overwhelmed. The truth is I made myself too busy and didn’t spend the time with my Father that was needed. But a wise woman once told us that our walk with God should be like dancing with Him. No Peace, No God, Know God, Know Peace! So why did I feel overwhelmed? If God is in it, then I should have peace about it. Well guess what?!! I left the most important person out of everything that I was doing.

I have discovered that often we fail to slow down enough to spend the precious time with our Father that is ever so needed; thus loosing our peace and joy. To know someone we have to spend time with them. So if we fail to take that time, there is no way to possibly get to know them. God doesn’t’ expect us to stress over things that He has called us to do. But if it is what we desire and not what He desires, then we quite possibly bring on that stress all by ourselves! If He has called us to it; then He will always make a way! No stress needed! Sometimes we try to jump ahead of Him & that is when we find ourselves in turmoil. In God’s timing and His perfect will, our peace will flow like a serene river and our dance will be as a slow dance with God.

****Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

As I arrived to the beach today; sitting under the umbrella in the sand I closed my eyes and I could see a little girl dancing with her daddy. He was ever so gently twirling her and then embracing her as if he would never let her go. They danced as if dancing on top of the water even with the waves crashing around them, their dance still flowed. The love glances between them were profound as they swayed together ever so gracefully in perfect harmony. You could see that they have spent a lot of time together, doing just what they were doing. This is what our Father desires for us! He wants us to take time to know Him, trusting Him to keep us above the water as he holds on to us every so tightly! She was embraced in the peace of knowing her Father will not let her sink and so should we.

****Isaiah 41:13 (NIV) For I am the Lord your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

In the words of my pastor Mrs. Joyce,” My strength, rest, comfort and joy comes from God; keeps me in peace. What a freedom when we trust Him! The perfect one seeking out for our good. When we go our own way there is a pull and the dance don’t go well. But when we truly surrender we are on the greatest dance ever! His perfect plan!”

Today if you find yourself stressed and have lost your peace and joy; pray for wisdom. Then reach for the Word of God, read and meditate on it. Then pray for strength, knowledge, peace and joy and the ability to walk it out. Ask God what He wants you to do and let him slow dance with you!

****Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV) do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

****Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT) Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

To God Be All the Glory, Honor and Praise, Forevermore! Amen!

Much Love to You All,

Donna
