Stay Alert- Don’t Wreck Yourself

Tuesday morning as I was driving to work and talking to God; I came upon a wreck in front of the high school involving three vehicles. It was raining and a little foggy but as I drove by the vehicles what came to mind was this, “Through the storms we have to be alert because that’s when we can wreck ourselves.” Just like when we are driving, just one wrong decision or wrong move can cause us to wreck. And although the damages that I saw did not appear to be too bad it could have been catastrophic. In our lives, if we don’t stay alert and pay attention to our relationship with God and we focus instead on the negative things or fleshly desires or nature it can be catastrophic to us, our destiny and the destiny of others.

*******Galatians 5:19-21

*******Galatians 6:8

Upon reaching work that morning I pulled up KLove online and the word of the day was Psalm 91:4 (NLT) “He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.” The song that was playing was Trust in You by Lauren Daigle. And then on Facebook I saw a post by Linda Turnbull that stated, “The storm you’re in holds your blessing”! With all this confirmation, I knew I was defiantly on the right track for writing this week. All this started me thinking about how I have wrecked myself in the past by not staying alert or focused when storms came my way. Allowing the cares of the world to distract me and overcrowd my mind; I totally rocked the boat. However, on another note, I have seen what happens when I do stand strong by choosing to focus on God.

I have realized and experienced firsthand that the harder the storms get, the harder the rain, the tougher it gets to see our way through. That is when we must stay focused, standing firm, keeping our faith and trust in God. He will carry us, but we have to choose to trust Him and we must press in. In choosing to take our eyes off the storm, looking at the cross and remembering to let go, then we allow God to move.

In the midst of the storm when you feel you can’t hold on anymore; look up and praise your way through. When we praise Him, we are exalting Him above anything and any circumstance that is staring us in the face. I have learned that if I keep my praise on then the enemy can’t defeat me. It’s then that I realize that I am growing in Christ and using the weapons of warfare to defeat those giants.

********2 Corinthians 10:4 (NLT)

*******Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV)

I just posted on Facebook last night with God’s leading, “Opposition means breakthrough is on the way! Don’t give up!! Remember the enemy fights harder when he sees your victory in sight!” WOW, what a word from our Father!! And just yesterday I posted “Profiting from Trials .. James 1:2-18… Although circumstances may not be as you would choose; we as believers are to consider them as opportunities for rejoicing. For these are tools used to refine and purify our faith therefore; producing patience and endurance, an opportunity for growth!”

I don’t know about you but I sure needed to hear this today as it has truly been a tough week. But God knows exactly what we need and comes through every time; never early- never late, but right on time every time! So, as we at Emerge Ministries continue to be refined and purified; we pray that God continues to use us allowing His love to shine through so many will be led to Him. Hopeful that hearts and lives will be changed forevermore!

Remember, stay alert – don’t wreck yourself; the storm won’t last forever. Stand strong, your blessing is up ahead!

Ephesians 6:14 (NLT) Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

To God Be All the Glory Forever!

Much Love To You All,
