While driving to work on Monday I asked God what He wanted me to share in the blog this week. Within just a few minutes I found myself behind an 18-wheeler truck that appeared out of nowhere. There was a picture on the back door of that truck with kids and advertisement for Golden State Foods Foundation. But what caught my attention were the words in large letters “Changing Hearts; Changing Lives”. Upon researching what this company is about I discovered their mission is to improve the quality of life of children and families in need. Wow this is exactly what God wants to do for us (His children) improve the quality of our lives eternally. God changes us from the inside out and it starts with a heart change then our lives are changed forever.
****Ezekiel 36:26-27 (NIV) I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
Think of the worst thing that you have ever done in your life; then think about it being completely wiped out; never to be remembered again. How much of a relief would that be to not carry that weight on your shoulder for the rest of your life. Think about how much your life would change if only you could erase that mistake. A spiritual rebirth is possible! Meaning we can be delivered or rescued from the tragic consequences of our sin. It doesn’t mean that our selfishness, anger, bitterness, hatred, etc. is ok and it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. But you don’t have to walk around in guilt and shame of your past, for the rest of your life. Humbling ourselves and asking God to forgive us our sins (true repentance) will give you a changed life as God changes your heart from the inside out. Removing that bitterness, anger, hate, selfishness, and replacing all this with peace, joy, love and a heart to serve others. This spiritual deliverance is graciously and lovingly offered by God to everyone, but we must repent and trust in Jesus to experience this blessing.
That pain, hurt and bondage is taken when you ask God into your heart to be Lord in your life. He will free you so you don’t have to carry that weight anymore and your heart behaves differently (Samuel 10:1 & 9); however, you have to choose to leave it all with Him. With thoughts and priorities changed and, not holding onto that hurt, pain, shame and selfishness, you become free therefore your heart changes; changing your life. When you no longer carry bondage and you are forgiven you are spiritually reborn (John 3:3). There is a heart transformation that takes place and we become God-focused and no longer sin-focused. Heart change equals changed life! Hallelujah!!
The Bible is food for our soul. Our spiritual lives depend on how much we consume. Only God can change a heart; however he uses us to be the hands, feet and voice to introduce souls to Him. I was reading in Our Daily Bread Ministries booklet Tuesday morning in the June, July, August 2017 edition and read an article “Faith in Action”. It states that as Christians we are to live out faith with our deeds. As faith by itself, not accompanied by action is dead. We are commanded to take care of the widows and orphans and not relying on empty words while acting on our faith with deeds of love. And we are saved by faith, not works; but as we love others and care for their needs we are living out our faith. As God continues to use us at Emerge Ministries we pray that His love continues to shine through us leading many to Him so their hearts and lives can be forevermore changed.
To God Be All The Glory & Honor Forever! Amen!
